Vidblox Media Extenders for Coax or Fiber Transports

The PESA Vidblox Fiber/Coax extender series are independent transmitter or receiver units designed to support a common interface between computers and high definition video broadcast equipment.

Vidblox units let A/V professionals easily and economically scan convert, extend, scale, distribute and transport computer-based content to or from SMPTE compliant broadcast serial digital devices over long distance fiber or coax connections. Vidblox can solve a number of integrator A/V challenges with a single inexpensive, easy-to-use device. Both the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) can support fiber and coax in the same box making them a very cost effective solution when multiple signals need to be distributed from one device. High end scan converters and audio embedders typically add considerable cost to any system integration design when multiple units are required.  Until now, you have been forced to purchase different devices to perform multi-task requirements. PESA’s Viblox DVI products solve this challenge with a full set of features normally found in high end products - but at a much lower cost point-per-device. VIDBLOX NE SERIES

For instance, the Vidblox transmitter series (TX) can convert DVI, VGA, RGsB, RGBHV or YPbPr incoming source signals and scan convert them for simultaneously transport of perfect high quality serial digital signals over both (or either) fiber and coax at SDI, HD-SDI or 3G-SDI SMPTE compliant data rates. The Vidblox TX is ideal for applications where computer graphics must be ingested for creating broadcast digital video such as news segments, satellite imaging for analytics, web-based content for on-line training, or low-cost playback from set top boxes or video players.  The Vidblox receiver series (RX) can accept either fiber or coax incoming SDI, HD-SDI, or 3G-SDI transport signals and convert them to DVI-D, VGA or Component Video. The Vidblox RX is a powerful scan converter and extender device offering a built-in scaler, multi-port serial digital inputs for 4X1 switching, and de-embedded stereo audio outputs.

VIDBLOX SL SERIES

Engineered around critical requirements of size, weight, and power (SWaP), these units offer exceptional high quality image performance using PESA’s exclusive FPGA based host of integrator-friendly feature sets such as on-the-fly signal detect, customer defined EDID resolutions, internal test patterns, DVI equalizer, audio tone generator and network control and diagnostics over a LAN/WAN environment. The lightweight compact enclosure can be mounted under a table, on the wall, or in a standard 19” rack unit with the optional mounting plate or rack mount chassis. Each 2RU rack mount chassis includes a power distribution unit to run four Vidbloxs from a single AC power pack reducing the amount of AC outlets required.

The Vidblox extender series can be used for simple point-to-point applications or in combination with PESA’s full line of matrix switcher, distribution amplifiers and switch fabrics to handle the most challenging AV system designs requiring long distance signal managementThe Vidblox TX and RX can be used in combination with PESA’s 3G-SDI matrix switch solutions to build a full end-to-end computer-based switching system up to 1024x1024, or independently as DVI/Component video to SD/HD/3G (TX) or as a SD/HD/3G to DVI/Component video (RX). These extenders are ideal for a wide range of applications requiring long distance transmission of high definition computer images and with the Vidblox TX’s exclusive fiber/coax combination video signals up to WUXGA 1920x1200 and HDTV 1080p/60 can be transmitted up to 10km over a singlemode cable.

All Vidblox modules include a USB interface port for configuration and diagnostics while the Vidblox SL models offer a 10/100 Ethernet port for LAN/WAN control and configuration. With PESA’s Cattrax GUI control application running on a host PC, users can access a large array of setup and diagnostic screens to create the perfect signal distribution system.
